Brooklyn I.S. 223
I created a curriculum using the hand as the subject, piggybacking off of the art teacher’s lesson and the observational drawings students created of their hands.
First, students were instructed to make a print of their own hand using tempra paint, and then cut the handprint into pieces and arrange them into a new image. Next, they created a sculpture of their hand using 3 different materials: sew foam rubber, paper mache, and covering the hand with the foam rubber and then wrapping the hand with yarn.
